IanG talks about what happened to raw sockets in XP SP2, he mentions that you can still do what you could do with raw sockets by writing an NDIS driver, I seem to recall from my time with winpcap, that they've already done that, and it has an API for injecting traffic onto the network. Hacker's won't have to write anything, just get winpcap installed. repeat after me, you can't put the genie back in the bottle, you can't put the genie back in the bottle, you can't put the genie back in the bottle.

Developmentor and The ServerSide.NET are giving away a free download of the Essential XML quick reference. I have a real printed copy of this book, and its never far from my grasp, the schema reference section particularly for me is invaluable. Go grab it if you've not got it.
